I invite Mr. Srinath and others to discuss the current oil price crisis
in India. Discussing current issues that threaten to destabilize the
elected Government in India is a better way to spend our energies is
what I feel. I welcome others (libertarians, communists, socialists,
etc.) to shed light on this critical matter.

A very pertinent topic. Two years ago (at about the early days of IPI), there
were a lot of discussions about LPG vs CNG as alternate fuels. In fact, many
CNG converters were in the market, and some claims that all taxis in Mumbai
were mandated to switch over to CNGs. But somehow this route seems to have
died down.
Oil crisis is a global crisis and not just for India, but that is little
consolation. At 36 rupees a litre, the ones who would be most hit are the
lower sections of the society.
But I can't think of any way as yet to model the repercussions of such a
crisis and how it can be possibly handled. Any ideas from other members would
be most welcome.
Best,
Srinath
